Established in 1989, the National Bird-Feeding Society works to make bird
feeding better -- for people and the birds.
Through public and corporate support, the non-profit organization sponsors education and research
about birds in the backyard. Information reaches members through newsletters, other printed materials
and on-line interactions. Information reaches the general public through school programs, community outreach and the media.
The goal for
backyard birds is to provide suitable feeding and
nesting habitats necessary for survival.
The goal for
members is to establish a warm, responsive and
personal organization that:
- Connects people
to the natural world around them through backyard
bird feeding.
- Emphasizes the
importance of creating and maintaining good
songbird habitat.
- Fosters
understanding of the close relationship between
human interactions, habitat creation and wild
songbird survival.
