418 Lesson for All Ages by Shana McDonough It's never too early to start learning about birds, says Mechele Stepiens, new National Bird-Feeding Society member and long-time pre-school teacher. And, it seems, it's never too late. Mechele began introducing her 2- to 5- year-old charges to her feathered friends about a year ago, and the results have been amazing. "We started with just one feeder and a chart for identifying birds, "she explains. It was so much fun and the children enjoyed it to such an extent that she decided to do a whole school program on birds and butterflies. Now they have too many feeders to count... |
